I would say... that sometimes you have to be selfish. Sometimes, saying no to others is saying yes to yourself. Sometimes it's okay to put yourself and your happiness first- because you are no good to others anyway if you are not good within yourself. I would say... I love my friends, and my family, and I have been blessed by each and every person that has entered my life. They have all meant something to me, have all taught me something, and I am who I am because of them.

I would sing... "Crazy" by Meridith Brooks, or "Hang" by Matchbox 20... because I love them.

Love that! Love that you kept it private. I've appreciated most of (Ha!) the advice I've recieved in my lifetime. Even when I didn't, I know it was well intended. But my favorite, favorite, favorite advice I've ever heard anyone give is Joseph Campbell's glorious and over-a-billion-times-quoted:

                              "Follow Your Bliss."

Cheers! And Happy Trails to You!

actually, most of the time it isnt our choice how people view us. thats why i have chosen not to care. we cant change how people see us. we can only change how we act around them, but by acting differently around them, we change who we are. so its better to just be yourself no matter who you are around. act crazy, have fun and dont be afraid to be judged. we are all judged, by ourselfs, others, and God. so why not give them who you really are to judge? and not just who they want you to be.

i'd rather be hated for who i really am than loved for who i am pretending to be.

that is very, very true! grown ups think we have it so easy because we dont have to pay the bills, or deal with.. well.. teenagers. but in the truth, we have much more to handle. we are still trying to figure out who we are, who we can trust and where we stand in the world. many adults misjudge our abilities and our worth. we are much more capable of doing more useful things like well.. blogging lol or writing music than unloading the dishwasher or walking the dog. just because they had a little fun on their honeymoon and changed some dipers doesnt mean im intitled to be everyone's serf who's older than me. its rediculas. they have no idea how big of an influence they have on us and what we REALLY think of them. just because we dont say it out loud to keep our place at the table doesnt mean it isnt thought and doesnt effect us. infact, many teenagers have a more useful opinion than any proffesor or teacher alive. they just dont give us the chance or allow us to express it.

I don't know how old you are, but I love the idea that you get how important having a"bridge" person is ... You are wise beyond your years. I didn't get this concept for a very long time and wish someone had come alongside me. I remember my teen years like they were yesterday (yes, cliche, I know - but true!) and KNOW that had someone spoken Truth, Love, Grace, Mercy, and worth into my life, things might have turned out differently. I've loved reading your heart and look forward to seeing what else God puts on it and has you share with us :)
